You do not need the diagnosis before you contact us
The office does not expect a homeowner to know the model number, technical diagnosis, or even the correct equipment name just to start. 'The furnace is running but the house is cold,' 'the heat pump is making a strange noise,' 'we want to add air conditioning,' 'we were told we need a new system,' or 'we would like another quote' are all useful starting points.
If you know the equipment type, age, error code, or what the thermostat is showing, that can help. If you do not, that is fine. The first job of the office is to understand enough of the situation to put the request on the right path.
How the channels actually work
Phone, text, email, and the website form are practical ways to reach the company. During normal business hours, Deschutes staff see those messages and respond as the day's workload allows. Text and email are useful, but they are not presented as instantaneous chat; a real person is handling the reply.
After hours, normal texts, emails, and website messages are generally next-business-day communication. The normal office phone number has a recorded after-hours message. A caller who has a problem that should not reasonably wait can choose the option to be connected to the technician who is on call.
What kind of appointment comes next
A maintenance request should be scheduled as maintenance. A system that is not working needs a service technician. A homeowner who was told to replace a system but is unsure may need a second-opinion diagnostic. A homeowner who has already decided to install a new system and wants another proposal may need a system-design visit. A homeowner considering an upgrade that is not a replacement - adding AC, zoning, or ductless equipment, for example - may also begin with the system-design team.
The customer should not have to understand Deschutes's internal departments in order to get to the right person.
Set the expectation accurately
We do not promise an impossible response time. The goal is predictable communication: your message goes to Deschutes, a person responds, and if it is genuinely an after-hours need, the normal phone number provides a route to the technician carrying the on-call phone.
